Initial Situation

Mongolia has some of the biggest resource deposits of the earth, but it lacks:

1. capital investment for the short term

2. technological competencies

  • To make the resources accessible and to strengthen and diversify the entire economy, Mongolia has to rely on foreign direct investment.
  • The Mongolian government has the responsibility to negotiate investment treaties and to attract international investors. The political will for that exists.
  • Following the concept of infrastructure projects which where conducted in the Eastern European acceding countries for the EU, Mongolia plans to conduct development projects which structure the local industry and which offer the investors a satisfying ROI.
  • Next to the mining industries, especially machine construction industries and sustainable energy providers are addressed.
  • In these areas, Germany is one of the global market leaders.

It is our aim to found a centre of excellence as an industrial park in the capital Ulan Bator.

  • An industrial park is politically and economically wanted and is met with broad acceptance.
  • In the focus here is the idea to consider both the short-term profit-making in the clusters with affinity to mining as well as environmental and other future technologies. That means, next to a business and industrial park, an inovational park with a connection to educational and vocational institutions is also supposed to be developed.
  • Therefore, the Industrial and Innovational Park Ulan Bator has a key function. It is an important mean to advance the economic and societal development in Mongolia. The required area and the necessary structures will be provided by local institutions.
